Do we even need a new notation system?

If you were to ask most professional musicians, singers, conductors, or music teachers, they could probably wax poetically about the power and flexibility of the standard music notation. This is the system currently used by virtually all working musicians around the world –with the lines, squiggles, and notes with heads and tails.
